Jan Hendrik VerstratenLogline: Northern Italy. The guests of a hotel struggle with their secrets and their revelations against the backdrop of the flooding of the hotel. Tony, the bartender, falls in love, finds out who his real father is and takes charge when disaster strikes. Edward, one of the guests, meets his guardian angel, while others may have to face death.

Career History: Since 2006, I have been concentrating on devoting more personal time and commitment to my writing, whilst earning the daily salary through my other skills and talents.

Screenwriter & Playwright: 2005 - 2008 +
Location: London, UK.
2008: Screenplay ‘Hotel Sans Soucis’ is re-written and is called FLOOD, and the process of having the screenplay made into a full-length feature film is started.
2008: Short Screenplay MOTHER is written. (30 min)
2006: Screenplay ‘Hotel Sans Soucis’ is a quarter finalist in the ‘Filmmakers.com Screenwriting Awards’.
2006: Stage Play ‘Desperate Improvisations’ was performed at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, and in the Lion & Unicorn Theatre in London.

Life-Style Coach & Intuitive Counsellor: 2001 – 2008 +

I found out early on that I had a gift for understanding how people are truly feeling, a level of empathy that I also use in my writing. Since I moved to London, I have been established the Langham Studio in the West End and at Mysteries in Covent Garden. I have worked with many people, including Celebrities, on issues they would like to learn tools to deal with. I have enjoyed helping all my clients to see more clearly as to what is going on in their lives.

Designer: 1995 – 2001
Location: Europe.
Co-Founder of the fabric designer label ‘Kardol & Verstraten’ that was a huge success in Holland, Belgium and Germany, and attracted a lot of publicity in Europe throughout the company’s career. The label still exists as a bed linen label in Holland.

Ceramic Artist/Painter/Short Film Maker: 1991 – 1995
Location: South Carolina & New York, USA.
1991 - 1995: Ceramic Artist in South Carolina, USA. Pieces sold to Barneys, Neiman Marcus for retail in US stores.
1991: Won a Grant from the Holland-America Foundation for a 16 mm Short Film.
1991: Won an Art Competition, with my work being part of a show in Soho International Art Horizons, together with Robert Indiana and Davis.
1991: Dance Short Film got an honourable mention in the School Festival.
1990: Sold a Short Film to Jennifer Apostel of Channel 13, PBS New York - shown twice on the channel.
1990: Film ‘Expectation, Deception & Succession’ wins an Award of Merit at the New York Film & Video Expo.

Qualifications: 1982 – 1989

1989 - 1990: Studied Filmmaking Courses 1 & 2 at New School in New York.
1986 – 1989: Studied Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
1988 – 1989: Studied Playwriting at ‘t Colofon in Amsterdam, where my play ‘My Birthday’ was performed.
