What are the ideals you would be willing to give your life for? Could you gladly proceed to your own death and declare it the most joyful day of your life?
In 1659 after watching two male friends hang for the crime of being ?Quakers?, Mary Dyer stood on the gallows at the Boston Commons with a noose round her neck, ready to give her life to the cause of opposing the Puritan persecution of the Quakers in Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Years earlier the Puritan magistrates had been vexed by another woman, Anne Hutchinson, whose crime was holding weekly religious meetings in her home; meetings attended by almost the entire community of Boston. When Anne was finally cast out from her church in Boston, one woman stood and holding her hand, walked out of the church with her. That woman was Mary Dyer.

Anne and Mary is the story of these two remarkable women, uncommon friends in an uncommon time, who had the courage to fight for their beliefs and stand up for justice.
