CHANNEL 4 UK TV PRESENTER, ACTRESS AND MODEL MISS KONNIE HUQ BIOGRAPHY

Last year Konnie Huq saw out her tenth and final year in Blue Peter after becoming their 25th presenter in December 1997. Konnie started her presenting career when she was just 16, fronting a number of children's programmes on The Children's Channel and a show on GMTV, whilst completing an Economics degree from Cambridge. She also appeared on Newsround in 1992 when she interviewed Neil Kinnock before the General Election of that year.

Konnie's years on Blue Peter have taken her to the far corners of the world, and among her many Blue Peter highlights are feeding sharks in the deep; reuniting families torn apart and separated by civil war in Angola; a trip to the village in Bangladesh that her family originate from; also gaining her professional rally driver's license and participating in a World Rally Championship in Sweden. In addition to this she has also interviewed many including the likes of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown as well as known music and film stars.

Music has been a passion of Konnie's, Having worked at Q magazine on and off for some years, she then had the opportunity to present such iconic music shows as the UK Top 40 on CBBC, Top Of The Pops and The Tube broadcast on Channel 4 Radio . Acting has been another of Konnie's passions, completing her Drama Guildhall Grades at a young age, she was also in the National Youth Music Theatre along side the likes of Jude Law and Jonny Lee Miller, performing in Sadler Wells Theatre and The Edinburgh Festival. Recent cameos have included a part in the second series of Robin Hood and also a role in the ITV comedy show FM. She also has a cameo appearance in Gurinder Chada's new film, 'It's A Wonderful Afterlife', to be released next year.

Konnie has been hosting 'London Talking' - a topical debate show transmitting on ITV1on Thursday evenings - the highlight of the series being Konnie hosting the animated Major debate between Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson. Konnie has many feathers to her bow and her versatile presenting style enables her to lend her experience to a wide range of topics, from covering New York and London fashion week for LK today to presenting major sporting and fashion programmes over the summer. She has been presenting Zoo days for Channel 5, jetting around the world as the presenter for the Red Bull Air Race on Channel 4 as well as presenting for GMTV, Your News for BBC News 24 and Guinness World Records Smashed on Sky1.
