Angel Film Awards 2011 Official Jury Board Member Melissa Papel


Melissa Papel is a young and very talented International actress, TV host and screenplay writer.

Melissa studied for 3 years at the well-known Parisian drama school "les Cours Florent". After which with the help and support of her teachers, family and friends Melissa packed her bags at the tender age of 19 and ventured around the world stopping off in Canada. Melissa enrolled for a one year "acting for film and television" program at the Vancouver Film School where she learned everything she could regarding the movie industry. During the 3 years Melissa spent in Vancouver, she acted in a several short films.

Melissa then decided to explore the film industry in Europe and utilize her acting skills and make the most of the 7 languages she speaks fluently.

Melissa also starred in 35 episodes of a prime time Turkish TV series “Elveda Rumeli”. That was followed by a lead role in an Azeri Russian-Georgian co-production feature film “The Precinct” for which she learned a new language and worked very hard in extreme conditions. The film was selected to represent its country in the "best foreign film" category of the 2011 Academy Awards. Melissa then went on to play the lead role in another feature film, a Turkish comedy which was released in theaters in 2010 “Off Karadeniz”. In 2011, she started hosting a weekly TV show about cycling in Turkey and Europe, which is being aired weekly on Turkish National TV “Bisiklet Dunyasi” The world of cycling). This is where Melissa was able to really utilize her language skills interviewing people from all over the globe.

This will be Melissa’s second time at the Angel Film Awards and she is delighted to be part of the festival and especially to a member of the jury.
